Step 1: Answers to questions
1.    ¿What should English Language Learning (ELT) materials have?
The learning materials for the English language must have curiosity, interest and attention in the student, also, to achieve a good impact there must be:
·         Novelty in unusual subjects, illustrations and activities.
·         Bone variety, break the monotony with unexpected and motivated activity.
·         Attractive presentation, such as the use of attractive colors.
·         Attractive content with topics of interest to learn something new.
·         Achievable challenge, with tasks that challenge students to think.
2.    Please, explain the main on the following question: ¿Proposals for Principled Approaches to the Development of ELT Materials?
According to authors propose the following approaches:
Rutherford and Sharwood-Smith (1988) assert that the role of the classroom and of teaching materials is to aid the learner to make efficient use of the resources in order to facilitate self-discovery.
Meisel, Clahsen and Pienemann (1981) have put forward the Mutlidimensional Model in which learners must have achieved readiness in order to learn developmental feat but can make themselves ready at any time to learn variational features.
Krashen (1985) makes the strong claim that comprehensible input in the target language is both necessary and sufficient for the acquisition of that language provided that learners are ‘affectively disposed to “let in” the input they comprehend’.
Schmidt (1992) presents a powerful argument, where he says that indirect speech with the way it is used in a transcript of a conversation from a native speaker would be one of those approaches and easily incorporated into the materials of the textbooks.
Ellis (1990) Teaching materials should provide opportunities for interaction in a variety of modes of discourse ranging from the planned to the unplanned.
Dulay, Burt and Krashen (1982), Language students should have a strong and consistent motivation and should also have positive feelings towards the target language, their teachers, their learning partners and the materials they are using.
